New 1.1 Update News!

Version 1.1 is live!

You should have two new options in your edit menu, under Manage: Styles and Images.  This is where you can play with styles (you can have more than one style, and switch between them), and styled images (banners and footers, plus things like lolcats, motivators, and captions).

It's now after after 11:50 PM here at Pixy Labs, so I'll leave posting all the details until the morning.

Oh, and registrations are back for those of you waiting patiently to join up.  New users automatically get the full 1.1 treatment.

My blog....I 'sploded it !

Attempted to activate style sheets....I went to "styles" and hit blue and "update to 1.1".
Then I got the ominous runes below

Now on my blog there are no margins or borders and the sidebar stuff is at the bottom.

2 Sorry about that!  I've fixed the problem and reset your blog to 1.0.  If you try that update again now it should all go smoothly.

Alright, so I've now got a passable set of banner images and a semi-coherent theme for them to rest in. How do I setup the banner rotation and get my first banner to undefault? "Clear Default" doesn't seem to be working.

Also, I can't find the setting to adjust the color of the main posting area. It's still very much white, and seems to poke out from behind the banner image as seen in the top right of this screen grab.

OK, my blog is no longer blown up thank you thank you thank you, but I have two questions.

1.  How do I set the background for my sidebar to be whote while keeping the margins blue?

2.  What exactly does the borders function change the color of anyway, changing it seems to give me no visible change?

Oh and the register button is failing to show up on internet explorer.

Ok, so the rotation seems to be working, but I'm still curious how the numbering scheme functions.

I know it's possible to rotate themes as well. Does the numbering allow us to link a banner image to a theme?

8 I tried to change the banner in the new images editor. Went into the starter banner and just hit "Save" and got the following trackback:

9 Hi everyone!

I'll have an update today or tomorrow that will address most of these issues. (I just have a bit of chaos going on right now - some of the Movable Type blogs I run at mu.nu just got defaced by a hacker. I'm going to be migrating mu.nu over to Minx as fast as I can to get away from that sort of thing.)

Just quickly:
I tried to change the banner in the new images editor. Went into the starter banner and just hit "Save" and got the following trackback
The problem with editing a starter banner is that the image used to generate the banner isn't copied to your images directory. So when the program tries to re-create it, it can't find that image, and explodes.

I'll fix that by copying the appropriate image to your directory.
I know it's possible to rotate themes as well. Does the numbering allow us to link a banner image to a theme?
The number scheme is to make it easy to do user-selected or script-selected themes or banners. So rather than having to find the "Sunset" theme, you can just choose theme 7.  Rotating themes aren't quite ready to go just yet, but yes, they will be supported.
1. How do I set the background for my sidebar to be whote while keeping the margins blue?
Hmm.  If you set the page colour as white and the margin colour as blue, that should work.  What happens when you try that?
2. What exactly does the borders function change the color of anyway, changing it seems to give me no visible change?
Ah. The border setting has an effect if you have borders defined. Right now you can't define a border, so it doesn't do a whole lot.
Oh and the register button is failing to show up on internet explorer.
Thanks, I'll get that fixed.
Also, I can't find the setting to adjust the color of the main posting area. It's still very much white, and seems to poke out from behind the banner image as seen in the top right of this screen grab.
The page colour is the right way to control that, but I just checked an it's being over-ridden by the stylesheet. I'll get that fixed, and then both problems should go away.

10 When I do that the margin color over runs into the sidebar making it well nigh invisible since most f the text is in the same color as the margins.  If I define a seperate background color in the sidebar template in CSS it changes the color of the margins as well, and if I define the background in html nothing happens.  Basically it is acting like the sidebar is part of the margin and vice versa.  If it is any help I have the index layout and page layout set as two collumns, content left.

11 Okay, that's weird.  I'll take a closer look.

12 the topics list in the "help" are busted - the links all go to http://mee.nu/help/[topics.path].

13 Oops!  Thanks for spotting that.  Fixed now.
