A New Look for a New... Blogging Thingy

Yes, it's our new Autumn fashion range. It might not be Autumn where you are, but I think you'll like our stylin' new theme anyway. Counting down to beta launch: T-something hours.

1 Pixy, your new blogging platform is so awesome, I'm completely blown over and this is the best thing to ever hit the blogging world, bar none!   Since you are intending this to be a commercial enterprise, consider being at Blog World Expo in Las Vegas this coming November.  It is being headed up by my "blog-son" Rick Calvert.  Rick has put blogworld on the net here:  http://www.blogworldexpo.com/   His email, should you desire to contact him personally is:  Rick Calvert < theuglyamerican1 -at- hotmail -dot- com>, and tell him that I sent you.    I think Blog World Expo will be a really big thingy and according to Rick, an awful lot of the blogging platform people will be there, and you have it all over these folks.   GM Roper Cancer Sucks! http://gmroper.mu.nu   P.S., I sent this to you via email also, and no, (Full Disclosure) I don't have any financial interest in blogworldexpo  ;-)

Pixy,

A while back - I think it was when we swapped servers or something - quite a few Munuvians had crazy characters inserted into their posts where single and double quotes used to be.  Perhaps, if not too much trouble, a check for those common incorrect strings can be built into the conversion scripts so that when posts get migrated to Minx they'll be corrected automatically.

Just a thought.

3 Yes, that was a character set mismatch.  It shouldn't have happened, and won't happen in the future because I'm forcing everything to UTF-8, but fixing it during the conversion is a good idea.

4 I think I've got a woody.

But about these new system, cool!  You want us to report bugs, right?  Okay, the tab order for the items on the commenting section is out of order.  After the web address, tab takes me to the post button, not into the comment block.  And I am getting some serious re-draw each character I type -- the system seems to want to draw my comment on top of the toolbar for the comment box with every character I type.  Maybe it's just me.

5 There's an issue with the editor widget - you can't tab into it.  I should be able to fix that with some Javascript.

With the redraw - what browser are you using?  I haven't seen that on any of my test systems.

6 Like I say, it could be me.  Oh, there, it's not doing it on this system.  I suppose it could have been system resources or something because I was using Firefox and I'm on a different machine now.  Oh well.

I like tabbing.

7 So weird... I keep seeing the comment count in this post go up, but only the first 6 ever display.

Now that's really weird. I'm comments number 7&8 (and the most recent), but it tells me there are 16 (now to be 17) comments.

9 Oh, yeah.  This post has been collecting spam. I've marked it as junk - so it doesn't show up - but I haven't deleted it yet - so it's still counted.

Posted by: Pixy Misa at April 11, 2007 12:05 AM (PiXy!)

10 I'll fix that, but first I have to work out how, since the junk filter has a configurable cutoff.  If I make it a fixed cutoff, I can easily control what gets counted, but as it is, I'd have to add a count() the SQL query for every post.  Not the end of the world, admittedly.

11 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!  SPAMMMMM!!

12 Spam gone.

That one only got a 4.4 out of 5, so I need to train the spam filter a bit better.
